Linda Brannan

Career Development Coordinator , Wake STEM Early College High School

Linda Brannan serves as the Career Development Coordinator at Wake STEM Early College High School located on the campus of NC State University. Linda collaborates with the local business community and NC State University to develop college, business and industry partnerships that will help students connect learning in the classroom to the demands of a 21st Century society. Linda fulfills her passion to assist students by engaging business in education to support students with project-based learning, work-based learning and develop relevant career development plans. These career development plans include work-based learning opportunities in business and industry such as industry tours, job shadowing and career internships. As a Career Counselor, Linda's ultimate goal is to assure that her students graduate with 21st Century employment skills of communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity and are ready to be tomorrow's problem solvers. Previously, Linda worked at NC Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) as the Student Support Services Consultant. She has been a Dean of Student Services at two high schools within Wake County Public School System, one of the largest public school systems in the country. Under her leadership, both schools received the National RAMP award (Recognized ASCA Model Program) for implementing a a data-driven comprehensive school counseling approach to improve achievement. She has held middle and high school counseling positions in other NC public schools. Linda is a National Board Certified Counselor and in 2011 was a top finalist for the ASCA National School Counselor of the Year award. She routinely presents at state and national conferences and contributes relevant articles to professional journals.
