Michael Williams is the principal at H.E. Winkler Middle School in Concord, N.C., and a professor of middle and secondary education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He taught middle and high school social studies for many years and served as the district instructional specialist for Cabarrus County Schools. His areas of expertise are student engagement, social studies methods, urban education, and school transformation.
